Remarkable results can be obtained by anti-wrinkle treatments which decrease the amount of wrinkling due to hyperactive facial muscles. The areas that can be treated are
- frown lines between the eyebrows
- horizontal lines in the forehead
- “crows feet” around the eyes
There are two types of wrinkles – dynamic or static wrinkles. The dynamic wrinkles are those that appear when we make facial expressions such as frowning or smiling. Static wrinkles are ones that have become permanent, such as deep frown lines. Usually dynamic wrinkles are treated with muscle relaxing injections , whereas static wrinkles are usually treated with dermal filler injections. For general rejuvenation of the skin including hydration, volume and fine lines and/or scarring, Platelet Rich Plasma treatment is another option I can provide.
The muscle relaxant injections (botulinums) are given with a very fine needle into very specific muscle areas so that over the next two or three weeks these muscles will gradually relax. The overlying skin will become smoother and softer, giving a more relaxed and pleasant appearance, yet your face will still be animated and expressive. The effect usually lasts 3 to 6 months, which may increase as the injections are repeated. I only use the most well-known brand of botulinum, Botox®, because it gives consistently good results.
As we become older our faces become less plump and so for loss of contour and for deeper wrinkles other facial rejuvenation techniques can be useful, such as dermal fillers. These are an effective and quick way to soften deep lines, particularly in the mouth and nose area, and a small volume can make quite a dramatic difference in freshening the face and offering a more youthful appearance. Fillers can be used for
- deep lines from the nose to the corners of the mouth
- from the corners of the mouth towards the chin
- plumping the lips or just restoring fullness to thin lips
- restoring volume to the cheeks
- as a “liquid facelift” by injecting various points with different types of fillers
I only use dermal fillers based on hyaluronic acid, which is considered to be the safest filler available, as it is a naturally occurring substance that all living things have. It is not permanent, and your body naturally slowly dissolves it. Some fillers can last up to 2 years, depending on the area and exact type of filler used. You may require a top up as you notice the fullness reducing. Often second time around you will need less because some will still be present from the original treatment.
I am now offering a new exciting new treatment called Platelet Rich Plasma treatment. This revolutionary new skin rejuvenation treatment uses your own blood plasma to stimulate the tissue regeneration process.

A full consultation first will ensure that an appropriate treatment plan is offered for you. This may include muscle relaxants, or dermal fillers or a combination of both, and a discussion about PRP if you are interested in this amazing new treatment.
There is a consultation fee of $55 (including $5 of GST), but this is waived if you proceed with a treatment. You may have wrinkle reduction treatment on the day of your consultation but you can also simply come for a discussion on wrinkle removal and have your cosmetic injections or PRP some other time.
